Yes. The law gives the court two options where it believes, based on the accused's character, past, age, the circumstances of the offence, or its triviality, that he will not return to crime:
Withholding pronouncement of punishment: Where a person is accused of an offence warranting imprisonment, the court may decide to withhold pronouncing punishment and require the accused to give an undertaking, with personal or material surety or none, to observe specified conditions and good conduct for a period not exceeding two years, and may place him under the supervision of an appointed person. If the period passes without breach, the trial proceedings are treated as void; if he breaches the conditions, the court resumes the trial and imposes the penalty (art. 81).
Suspension of execution: Where the court imposes imprisonment not exceeding two years or a fine, it may order suspension of the sentence with an undertaking, for three years running from when the judgment becomes final; if that passes without revocation, the judgment is treated as void. Suspension may be revoked if, during the period, a judgment of imprisonment is issued against him for an offence (art. 82).
