A worker may not be employed more than 48 hours per week or eight hours per day, except in cases provided by law, and during Ramadan working hours are 36 per week (art. 64). A worker may not work more than five continuous hours without a rest break of at least one hour, which is not counted within working hours, except in the banking, financial, and investment sector where it is eight continuous hours (art. 65).
By written order, a worker may be employed for overtime when necessary, not exceeding two hours per day and a maximum of 180 hours per year, nor more than three days per week and 90 days per year (art. 66). Overtime is paid at the ordinary wage plus 25 percent (art. 66).
A worker has a paid weekly rest of 24 continuous hours after every six working days; if made to work it, the worker earns at least 50 percent of the basic wage plus a replacement rest day (art. 67).
